Diabetes news and information is easy to find on the internet, and it is just as easy to have information delivered to you conveniently and automatically. This is helpful to keep on top of news, advances in treatment, technology, research and knowledge.

You can get updates from news sources, newsletters, diabetes blogs, and websites.

Diabetes News Through Google

An easy way to find diabetes news is through Google.

Go to Google.com and click the "News" link on the top of the page. Enter "diabetes" into the search box and click "Search News" to see the latest news.

You can have an email alert sent to you when there is new diabetes news. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a link to "Create an Email Alert for Diabetes.”

You can also create a custom diabetes news section when you look at the Google news webpage. Click "Add a Custom Section for Diabetes to Google News" to do this.

Google also offers a feature called Fast Flip where you can find and share news articles and the search results appear on your screen as small magazine pages that can be flipped through quickly. You can follow friends and topics and create your own “custom magazine.” To begin, click on "Search Google Fast Flip for Diabetes.”

Internet Search Tools

Go to Google.com and search for "diabetes." There are many tools here to find diabetes news you may not be aware of.

In the left margin you can narrow your search to type of result.

There are more options if you click “more” on top of the page. For example, you can choose videos, blogs, realtime, and discussion results. You can even narrow the search down to just recipes.

Keep in mind, Google may be set to deliver search results based on your location and past search history. If you want to broaden your search results, check and change this setting if needed. Click "View Customizations" at the bottom of the page to change the setting.

Diabetes Newsletters

While you are searching, you may find websites that are good sources for diabetes news. If you find a site that interests you, look around the homepage to see if they offer a newsletter and subscribe to it. You may find our Type 2 diabetes newsletter helpful. (There is a link to sign up on the upper right of this page.)

Blogs

You may also run into blogs as you search. One of the internet search tools mentioned above allows you to search specifically for blogs on diabetes. Blogs may offer a newsletter or an RSS feed or both. When you visit our Type 2 diabetes blog, you will find links to the RSS Feeds (click the little orange square) and a link to our newsletter.

RSS Feeds

RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") feeds allow you to get updates when a blog or website is updated. It is kind of like subscribing to a channel. These feeds can be received and displayed by software called a “feed reader,” “aggregator,” or “RSS Reader." These can be run on your computer or mobile device and you can also have feeds sent to your email. There are many types of RSS feed readers available. You can find a list of RSS Feeds available for our site by clicking the little orange RSS feed box when you see it. There is one located on the bottom right of each page if you would like give RSS feeds a try.
