How to Replace a Radio in an '89 Toyota Truck
- 1). Unscrew and remove the dash panel beneath the steering wheel.
- 2). Unbolt the lower-left side of the dash with the ratchet and socket.
- 3). Remove the panel from the dashboard.
- 4). Remove the screw on the lower-left of the glove box.
- 5). Unbolt the lower-right of the dash.
- 6). Open the glove box and remove all screws from the top of the dash.
- 7). Remove the glove box.
- 8). Remove the right side of the dash.
- 9). Remove the screw from the upper-left side of where the glove box used to be.

Pull the lower half of the console beneath the radio out, using your hands. - 11
Remove the climate control buttons. - 12
Remove the black bezel from around the radio with your pick tool. - 13
Remove the last remaining screw on the lower-right side. - 14
Remove the panel from around the ignition switch. - 15
Remove the panel from around the radio. - 16
Remove the radio from the dashboard with your screwdriver. - 17
Remove the wiring harness. - 1). Insert the installation sleeve for the new stereo into the mounting dock and fold out the holding tabs with your screwdriver.
- 2). Pull the wiring and antennae cable through the sleeve.
- 3). Attach the wiring to the wiring harness and attach the harness connectors to the radio before attaching the antennae lead to the back of the radio.
- 4). Push the radio into its place in the mounting dock.
- 5). Follow the instructions from Section 1 in reverse to finish the installation.
