How Do I Get Videos on My Ipod?
- Identify the iTunes-compatible video file you wish to add to your iPod. Add the video to iTunes by opening the video file. Click the "Add to Library" option under the "File" tab in your iTunes menu bar to do so. Opening the video file this way will add it to your iTunes library, making it available for use by the program.
- View the videos in your iTunes library by clicking the "Videos" tab under the "Library" tab in the menu column. Select the icon for a video you wish to add to your iPod. Click the "Create iPod or iPhone Version" option under the "Advanced" tab in your iTunes menu bar. This will make an iTunes Plus formatted copy of your desired video file that is playable on your iPod.
- Click the button marked with a plus sign beneath your iTunes' menu column to create a new playlist in which to add your desired video. Click and drag the desired video's icon or filename to the icon for your new playlist.
Connect your iPod to the computer. Select your iPod's device icon once it appears in the menu column to open your iPod's control panel in iTunes. Click the "Video" tab to select which playlists and individual videos therein you want to add to your iPod. Be sure to include the playlist containing your desired video.
You may also choose to manually manage your iPod's content by checking the "Manually manage music and videos" box in the "Options" check menu in the "Summary" tab. - Click the "Sync" button in the menu column. You may also elect to enable automatic synchronization. Enabling this feature affords you the convenience of not needing to remember to sync new videos you've added to your iPod's playlists. Click the "Summary" tab in your iPod's control panel in iTunes. Uncheck "Manually manage music and videos" in the "Options" check menu. Leaving this option unchecked automatically updates your iPod with all playlist changes and manual song management whenever you connect the iPod to your computer.
- Some video-capable iPods can have files added as easily as if they were external hard drives. Adding video to your iPod can be but a click and drag away. Open the iPod's device icon in your operating system's file viewer. Click and drag compatible video files into the iPod's file window. Be mindful of your iPod's available disk space, as some files or file groups may be too large to add. You may also be able to click and drag video files onto the iPod device icon.
