How to Bury an Undrground Dog Fence
- 1). Mark the yard with chalk or marking tape to mark where the wire is to be buried. Mark according to the measurements of the wire. If a wire is 40 feet long, the markings should contain the yard or an area of the yard large enough to fit 40 feet of wire. Avoid leaving gaps, which allow a pet to walk out of the yard.
- 2). Dig 1 to 2 inches deep along the marked lines. Avoid digging too deep, which can throw off the signal, but make sure it's deep enough so the wire does not get dug up.
- 3). Place the wire in the dug-out line and cover it with dirt. Pat the dirt on top of the wire so it is tightly covered and will not easily move.
- 4). Set up the rest of the system according to the instruction manual. Once buried, the wires are ready to go, and only the remaining electrical installation is required.
