William Hill 2013 Football Contests
William Hill 2013 Football Contests
The LVH (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton) SuperContest gets most of the attention when it comes to football contests, but it is far from being the only game in town. William Hill, which has roughly 100 sportsbooks or betting kiosks throughout the state of Nevada, offers up three pretty solid football contests, which may not offer up the prize money of the SuperContest, but are definitely more friendly on your wallet. The SuperContest is legendary among football bettors, with its top prize that $447,000 last year, easily breaking 2011's record sum of $310,000. But not every bettor can afford the $1,500 entry fee. If you don't live near Las Vegas, you can add the cost of a flight to McCarran International Airport to your expenses, as well as roughly $300 and 3% of any winnings to have somebody fill out your selection card each week.
If you can afford it, the SuperContest is absolutely great, but very few bettors can fork over that type of money.
The William Hill contests are quite a bit different in that regard, as entry fees for the two NFL contests are just $25 and the college football contest is $100. With William Hill having locations all over the state, it may be easier (and cheaper) for you to fly to Reno or head to Elko, Jackpot, Wendover, Winnemucca, etc., to sign-up. For a small fee, you may also be able to "partner" up with somebody who lives in Nevada and not have to leave your home.
The one requirement to entering any of the contests is that you join the William Hill Rewards Club, which is free to join.
Club members receive up to 25 entries in the 2013 Pro Pick 'em Football Contest, which requires you to select the straight-up winner of each Sunday and Monday NFL game. That's all there is to it.
The weekly top prize is $10,000 and the overall grand prize is $25,000, so there is plenty of money to be won and the guaranteed payout for the contest is more than $250,000.
2013 College Pick 'em Football Contest
The College Pick 'em is quite a bit different than the Pro version, as it requires you to pick seven games each week off a designated menu of games, but here, you are picking the teams against the point spread. The contest runs for 10 weeks and there is a $5,000 weekly prize, as well as a $10,000 overall prize. Each person is allowed 10 entries into the college contest.
The final contest is completely different that the first two, as it's the popular Three 'N Out Pro Football contest, which requires you to select one NFL side or total each week and you continue in the contest until the season ends or you pick-up your third loss. Basically, it's a survivor-type of contest and the grand prize will be at least $50,000. Players are allowed just five contest entries for this one.
Another advantage to the William Hill contests is that you will spend much less on a proxy (somebody to turn in your weekly selections) than you will for the SuperContest. Instead of $300 and a percentage of winnings, William Hill proxies can be found for $100 and no percentage of winnings. (E-mail me if you need more information about this. You can simply click on my name at the top of the page and follow the e-mail link or the other link.)
The William Hill contests offer plenty of fun and some serious cash payouts and are a good choice for those who don't want to fork over the money required for the SuperContest.
