The Future Of Windows - Triple Glazing

38
Triple Glazing is the future of windows although not widely specified in the UK at the moment, it has been used widely in colder countries like Scandinavia and Canada for some years now. The point of triple glazing is to provide better thermal and sound insulation than previous forms of windows. This is achieved by using 3 sheets of glass instead of 2 hence the name triple glazing.

With heating costs rising and the advancement of glazing technology improving, CHOICES has become a leader in glazing innovation. For a long time BFRC 'A' Energy Rating has been the standard giving centre pane 'U' value of 1.2 and an overall value of 1.4. At the time, this was heralded as big news and a real achievement and is still recognised as such today.

However, times have moved on, with the requirement for ever more efficient glazing. It has a center pane U value of 0.8 to 0.6 and an overall value of 1.1 to 0.74 depending on the choice of triple glazing product used. As you can see it is a lot more thermally efficient at insulating your home.

Triple glazing helps reduce external noise generated by such items as cars, aeroplanes and noisy neighbours that interrupt your peace! Three panes of glass ensure that triple glazed windows, doors and conservatories have the distinct advantage over double glazed windows, doors and conservatories.

Sealed units are inherently more secure than double glazed units since there are three layers of glass to get through - one of which is toughened.

Triple glazed windows, doors and conservatories are helping save the planet. Building regulations set for homebuilding and renovation, requires a minimum thermal performance standard for replacement windows, and the code set for sustainable homes states that new build properties should adhere to even higher standards, all in the spirit of reducing carbon emissions and footprint.

CHOICES offer a range of triple glazing solutions:

CHOICES 'TRIPLE A' sealed units
These units are for use with any of the 70mm profiles within our range. The unit is 4/12/4/12/4 Argon filled with warm edge spacers giving a centre pane value of 0.8 and an overall 'U' Value of 1.1

CHOICES SYSTEM 88 windows and doors
If tilt and turn, fixed windows and doors suit your situation, then there is CHOICES System 88 with TRIPLE GLAZING to give centre pane 'U' value of 0.6 and overall value of 0.86. The sealed unit fits into an 88mm profile.

CHOICES SYSTEM 88 ALUSTAR windows
This is similar to the standard SYSTEM 88, but has a clip on aluminium finish to the outside face. This gives a PVCU window but with all the advantages of the aluminium range of colours and finishes on the outside. The thermal performance remains the same as above.

CHOICES PASSIVHAUS windows
Again, available as tilt and turn or fixed and designed to meet the exacting requirements of a Passivhaus designed house. This achieves 0.6 centre pane 'U' value and 0.74 overall.
