How Athletes Can Avoid Jet Lag

Jet lag is a tiring condition for some people most especially when travelling across several countries one may feel like sleeping over it just to recover.
To define Jet lag it is a psychological condition that affects the body's internal clock by traveling from several countries.
It causes a person to feel tired, irritated and not well.
There are several things that an athlete can do to minimize its effects to his performance: a.
One may travel earlier at least one day ahead of schedule or if time would permit few days would be great, according to the British Olympic Medical Institute.

Drink enough fluids, make sure you are hydrated by drinking tomato juice, sports drink, fruit juice or water.
You can start the process forty eight (48) hours before going on a flight.
You can still continue to drink fluids while on the plane and after arriving at your destination (An advice from the US Ski and Snow board Association).

Eat enough food, it is also recommended to eat before and during your flight.
Avoid foods that are heavy in the stomach and those that are not familiar to you.
You can also eat an apple while in flight and at your destination, eat at the proper time of the place your into.
Eating spicy food might also help.
d.
Adjust your sleeping habit at least forty eight (48) hours before traveling.
So your body can adopt easily on a different time zone upon your arrival (According to the USA Track and Field Association).
For example, if your normal sleep is eleven 11 in the evening and wake-up by seven (7) in the morning you can slowly adjust it every day.
Before your flight you can sleep around one (1) AM then wake-up by nine (9) in the morning.

Be active while in flight, though there's nothing much you can do while in the plane other than seating for several hours.
You can still walk around and have a stretch every few hours.
