South Africa has a population of well over 40 million people, however, there is still plenty of space for more! 2.
There are 11 official languages and 9 provinces.
Most people, though, do speak English quite fluently, although sometimes with interesting accents.

It gets hot in summer - very hot.
Bring sunscreen plenty of it, especially if you're used to a slightly colder climate.
In winter in can get pretty cold though, except in Durban, it's always hot there! 4.
It's not as small as you may think.
No, you won't be able to walk from one end to the other (unless of course you have some spare time on your hands).
It's about twice the size of France they tell me.

Most of the stuff works.
There are big cities like Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
There is internet access, running water and electricity (almost everywhere actually).
Even the small towns are very well equipped.
