Teaching a Dog to Fetch the Easy Way

18
Dogs are great playmates for both kids and adults.
They help relieve stress.
When people are down, sometimes they make use of the flying saucer play to unleash the bad energy.
However, it adds to the depression and nuisance if the dog does not know how to chase and retrieve the saucer.
This is because of various factors.
It may be that the dog was not brought up to be that way or its breeding is the non retrieving kind.
But cheer up; dogs are animal species that can be trained.
In teaching a dog to fetch something, here is a very easy, simple and fast training method: To start, you need a long, empty and not too wide hallway with a carpet or non slippery floor.
You may borrow and ask permission for your friend's house or a local motel's back hall.
You need several pieces of cut old garden hoses of about eight to twelve inches long.
Of course, do not forget the conditioner for your dog's behavior - good treats for your dog and your happy spirits.
Your dog can feel if you are not really in the mood and he will surely feel gloomy with you.
Next step in teaching a dog to fetch is to sit at the one end of the empty hallway and hold a piece of tubing.
Show it to your dog and wave it alluringly.
Throw it a distance, just a few feet away.
If your dog goes after it, reward him immediately with a treat.
Do not be discouraged if you have thrown several tubing yet your dog does not show any interest.
Do these for several times but do not go and pick the thrown pieces of tubing.
If your dog picks up the rubber tubing and carries it around even if it does not bring it to you, then you are near your goal in teaching a dog to fetch.
While doing the process, do not forget to show a sunny disposition - laugh with your dog, babble happy words to him, show him that you are very delighted that he picked the rubber tube (at last!).
Do not attempt however, to pull the tube from his mouth or else you end up playing tug of war and your plan is destroyed.
If he does not let go of it, just offer him another treat or if you do not have any treats anymore, just throw another rubber tube.
Surely, he will let go of the tube in his mouth and run after the one you have tossed.
To make the training reach the goal nearer in teaching a dog to fetch, continue tossing the tubes, this time a farther distance.
Always use a happy tone of voice to convince your dog that doing such is a fun and great thing to do.
Besides, it is one kind of positive reinforcement in teaching a dog to fetch and it plays a very big factor in the training.
Sometimes, dogs can be choosy and they are not delighted with simple tubes.
You may use soft toys as these are more enticing to them.
Try these tricks and you can have a retrieving dog in less than two weeks!
