How to Tune a Duck Commander Call
- 1). Separate the reed assembly -- the tone board -- from the mouth piece. To do so, hold the assembly with one hand and the mouthpiece with the other. Unscrew the two components by twisting counterclockwise.
- 2). Inspect the reed and its assembly. Look for cracks or breaks. If you find one, replace the reed. Look for trash or debris under the reed in the wind bore of the tone board. The bore is the semi-circle trough running down the center-line of the tone board. Any obtrusion changes the tone of the call. Clean it with water and a tooth pick.
- 3). Adjust the position of the reed in the assembly. Push the reed farther into the assembly to shorten it. Pull it out to lengthen the reed. The longer the reed, the lower the sound and the shorter the reed the higher the pitch.
