Not Everyone Gets Divorced

26
Television and the media seem to report every day about a celebrity couple breaking up after a brief marriage.
People are inundated with articles about the terrible state of marriage in the United States.
But is it really true that everyone gets divorced? Is it true that all of our kids are the product of broken marriages? In 2005 the divorce rate in the United States had fallen to 3.
6 per 1000 people.
This was the lowest rate since 1970 and was down from the peak rate of 4.
7 per 1000 people in 1990.
63 percent of American children were growing up with both biological parents in 2005.
During this time the marriage rate has dropped 7.
8 per 1000 people in 2004 to 7.
5 per 1000 people in 2005.
59 percent of the population is married and 10 percent of the population is divorced...
When you get married you have a 82 percent chance of making 5 years, 65 percent chance of making 10 years and a 52 percent chance of lasting 15 years.
So what do all these statistics show? While it is true that there are many children living in broken homes, it is not a majority of the children in the United States.
It is however the lowest percentage of any industrialized country and not an acceptable number.
The statistics also show that a large majority of marriages last at least 5 years.
Most people do try to make their marriage succeed.
They take their vows seriously enough stay together.
And more people are staying together than have in recent history.
The idea of No Fault divorce has been around for over 40 years now.
When it was first introduced, many people took advantage of this new concept.
It was treated as some type of fad that made it more popular.
Now it has been accepted as part of the mainstream and is not just being used because it is popular.
So the statistics show us that not every marriage in the United States fails.
Many people in this country are happily married.
A marriage is more than a certificate that has been signed by an official.
It is not what keeps two people together.
A true marriage is in a person's mind, body and soul.
That is not as easy to break up as it is to tear up the sheet of paper that signified two persons union.
That might be why there is a large percentage of the population that is not married.
People are waiting longer before they get married.
Since they are waiting till they are older they are possibly spending more time with their future mate before they get married.
This allows two people to merge their mind body and soul together.
Their marriage can be more successful and they won't become another part of the negative statistics of marriage.
