O.k., so now we're going to talk about putting the sounds together and actually making a mix using the counting that I just taught you. So we're going to play the first record. You're going to hear what the audience is hearing, then you're going to see me queuing up the record. We're going to go on starting on the one count like we talked about earlier, which is the first kick drum of the beat. So, we're going to hit the one count, we're going to match it up on this. You're going to see my hands going back here. So when you see me start counting, it's going to be one, two, three, four so my hand will mirror that image. One, two, three, four and then when I get to one again I'm going to let it go and it should match up with the beat. If it doesn't, I'm going to show you how to do a few adjustments to make it work. Alright, so essentially this is the right record player on the right side. As you can see, nothings happening with the left. This is what the audience is going to hear. Meanwhile in my head phones, right now what I'm hearing is that one kick. I'm hearing that one every time. So, I'm going to match it up with the one on this and everything should flow perfectly. So I'm going to count it in, once the one count starts you'll see it. I'll tap it out for you. It's coming up any second here. There's the one, two, three, four, one release. O.k., so now they should be matched. Now for the audience, I have the level brought all the way down to zero. You can bring it in right here. Now, we have both records playing at the same time, perfectly matched up. It's as easy as that. So it's very important to hit it on the one count on the left side and hit it perfectly. Now, let's say, let's say for some weird reason this is off, which happens quite a bit when you're a DJ in front of a bunch of people playing. What you want to do, two techniques that work very well for either slowing or speeding up the record. First, let's talk about slowing it down. All you do is take your index finger here and touch the platter lightly. That will slow it down. If you need to speed it up to make the beats match, you take your fingers and you just turn the knob gently and you can spin it. That's what a lot of DJ's would use to make the beats match or you can adjust the pitch arm. If you want it to go faster, push it up in there, as you can feel that speeds up the beat. If you want to slow it down, just push it up towards the negative sign and that'll slow it down.
