Lyons Shower Base Installation
- 1). Remove shower walls by unscrewing them from the walls or cutting them from the studs with a reciprocal saw. Remove all drywall with a crowbar and sweep and clean the floor in the shower area with a push broom.
- 2). Fit the shower base into the showering alcove and mark the location of the drain in the shower base by tracing its outline on the floor with a pencil. Remove the shower base and cut a hole into the floor on your mark for the drain.
- 3). Place the shower base back into the installation area. Place a carpenter's level on each side of the base to check for level. Slide wood shims underneath the base in areas where the base is below level. If gaps appear between the shower base sides and the framing walls, mount 1/2-inch slatting boards to the wall frames to fill the gaps. Use wood screws and a screwdriver to mount the slat boards to the frames.
- 4). Drill pilot holes through the base along the top edge into the studs with a 3/16-inch drill bit and power drill.
- 5). Screw the shower base to the studs with wood screws and a power screwdriver. Check to ensure the base is still level after each screw and slide shims under the base as needed.
