    Beta-Carotene and Vitamin A

    • Getting enough vitamin A promotes good eye health. However, getting too much is dangerous and results in a condition called hypervitaminosis A, that causes the skin to turn orange.

    How Much Vitamin A to Eat

    • Adult males need about 900 micrograms per day. Adult women need about 700 micrograms every day.

    • Eating a balanced diet and taking a multivitamin each day will ensure that one gets enough vitamin A. Always talk to your doctor before taking vitamin supplements.
