Are You a Good Sponsor?

6
If you're in multilevel marketing, network marketing, I just want to ask you, what kind of a sponsor are you? I was in a forum today and this person who's not been in the business very long said that his sponsor never talks to him, everything is set up on autopilot so he gets automated messages every once in a while.
He never hears from his sponsor; his sponsor never personally contacted him when he signed up, and he doesn't answer his emails.
And what has happened is, as this sponsor has moved up in the ranks and has started making more money, he's become a "blind sponsor.
" Kind of like having a blind company owner that buys a company but then never shows up, doesn't care what anybody else is doing, literally doesn't care what people are doing because he pays people to do everything for him.
So this sponsor has moved up and he has virtually automated his entire business.
He's got co-ops bringing people in; he's probably got virtual assistants that are handling the emails, he's got an autoresponder system set up, he's got automated systems for when you opt in you get an automatic download for something.
But you can not find him anywhere.
There's just no where to find him.
So you sign up for his program and then you're just kind of left hanging because all of these automated things are coming in but there's no personal interaction.
As I mentioned in a couple of other videos and as you'll hear some of the top online marketers say, MLM, network marketing is a people business.
It's a people business.
And what's going to happen sometimes is, if you get yourself up to the point where you forgot where you came from, more or less, and you've got everybody doing everything for you, and you're only logging in to your back office once a month just to make sure everything's flowing the way it should be because you're paying someone else to handle it for you, that's all fine and good.
But think about the people that you're bringing in.
Where are they going to get their help if you just set everything up, pay everybody else to do things for you and then just leave.
No webinars, no meetings, no showing up at events, nothing.
Now it's like, if you're going to have that kind of money, go out and buy a baseball team.
Pay your coach, pay your managers and you can just sit back and enjoy life.
And that's fine.
But when you're in network marketing, it's a people business and if you sponsor someone, if your name is on there that I brought you into this company, the people who are coming in under you are going to expect you to be there for them, to show them the way.
Even if it's just a personal Skype chat, a personal email, just touching base with you once in a while, 'Can I help you?' And this is something that's really critical because I've had this happen to me already.
I signed up with a company and I could get answers nowhere from anyone.
So it's like, I'm paying for a system that I can't use because I don't know how to use it.
So I'm out there looking everywhere and anywhere and it just totally throws out the window the concept of recruiting like-minded people, because once you set yourself up to where you're completely automated and everybody else is doing everything for you, you don't know who you're recruiting.
You don't know what mindset they're on, you don't know anything about them, you don't know what they're like.
And actually you set yourself up to be someone who really doesn't care.
They don't care about anything but the money.
As long as that money keeps rolling in and somebody else is doing the work, they're just off somewhere else.
You're not going to see that from your top online marketers like Ray Higdon, David Boozer, Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income and the list can go on.
They're up there; they go to Figi, but when they recruit people into their business, it's on a personal level.
They talk to their people, they still provide information, they still do videos, they still do webinars themselves.
Everything in their business is still hands on.
And those are the people that you want to sign up with.
Also, no matter what level you're coming in at, no matter what company that you're signing up with, those are the people you want to follow and listen to because those are the people that are doing it right.
So I'm not going to name names but there's one that I see a full-page ad in a magazine every month but he's nowhere to be found.
His face is on that ad.
His name is listed as the sponsor, but he's nowhere to be found.
That's because he made his money so now he doesn't care about anybody that's signing up.
There's not a care in the world.
And there are people out there like that.
More power to them if they just want to be like that, but it doesn't help the new people coming into your business, because when you're bringing in new people, they want to know that you care about who you're signing up, because it is a people business.
So just keep that in mind if you're a sponsor.
Automation, completely running your company on autopilot, if you have all the money in the world and you don't care about anybody but yourself and your money, go ahead, set it up.
Buy into your co-ops so you don't care who comes in, when they come in, and you just go about your business.
And that's fine.
Personally, if you do that, I think you're in the wrong kind of a business, but who am I to say? If you want to be a good sponsor and you want people to trust you, or like David Boozer says, 'know, like and trust you,' keep yourself visible.
Keep yourself accessible, even if you're only putting videos out, keep yourself available to the people you want to join your company.
