They call themselves America’s Dairyland, but there’s more to Wisconsin than just milk and cheese. Wisconsin has many natural resources and neat sights and sounds that any RVer should take advantage of. I’ve put together my top five RV parks, grounds, and sites so you aren't too far from all the fun in the Badger State.

Neshonoc Lakeside Camp Resort: West Salem

Neighboring Minnesota gets all the love for its lakes, but Wisconsin has some great bodies of water as well like Neshonoc and Neschonoc Lakeside Camp Resort to see it.


 There are plenty of amenities and facilities at Neshonoc like full utility hookups along with picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Immaculate bathhouses and laundry facilities help you clean up after a fun day out on the lake. Neschonoc rounds out their amenities with a dock and boat ramp, dump station, convenience store, golf cart rentals, pools, and playgrounds.

Speaking of lakes, the biggest source of fun is at Neshonoc Lake, rent a boat to explore the area through fishing, cruising, skiing or any other fun on the water activities. You also have nearby La Crosse on the Mississippi River for even more splashing and fun. We recommend Grandad Bluff and Riverside State Park for some excellent views. If you’re looking for a nice long hike look no further than the La Crosse River State Trail.

Apostle Islands Area Campground & RV Park: Bayfield

Get to the far reaches of the country at the Apostle Islands Area Campground. You may be on the edge of the country, but that doesn’t you don’t get any amenities.

Shaded sites outfitted with full utility hookups, picnic table, and fire ring are available to keep your creature comforts close. There are clean, hot showers, a dump station, camp store and a playground available for the little ones.

There is a ton to do all within a mile of the campground and it all starts with the Apostle Islands National Seashore. Take a kayak or canoe around these unique outcroppings around the area and if you’re brave enough head there in the winter to explore the unique ice caves. Also within a mile are several orchards, golf courses, museums, and parks. If you just have to leave the area Copper Falls and the Brule River are all within an hour’s drive.

Wisconsin Dells KOA: Wisconsin Dells

Wisconsin Dells bills itself as “The Waterpark Capitol of the World,” and I don’t think I can say otherwise. Before you it all these water parks you’re going to need a nice place to stay like at the Wisconsin Dells KOA. They offer a variety of different sites including back-ins and pull-throughs equipped with full utility hookups, cable TV, and several sites come with large patios. Bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities are all exceptionally clean. Other amenities include a pool, group pavilions, snack shack, bike rentals and more.

You’re only a mile away from downtown Wisconsin Dells and plenty of waterpark fun. Some of the more popular parks include Noah’s Ark Waterpark and the Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park. You can take boat tours of the scenic Dells or the Wisconsin River. Also take some time to get out if the man-made parks to check out the neat rock formations and dense forest of Rocky Arbor State Park or the reflective beauty of Mirror Lake State Park.

Egg Harbor Campground & RV Resort: Egg Harbor

Door County in Wisconsin is your gateway to exploring 300 miles of shoreline and 17 State Parks and Egg Harbor Campground is your gateway to Door County. You get plenty for your RV with full utility hookups at a variety of sites and Wi-Fi access. The bathhouses are brand new so you know they’re spick and span. You can get ice and firewood delivered to your site, enjoy some time at the group pavilions or have your kids run around on the brand new playground.

Money Magazine named Door County one of the top 10 travel destinations in the United States to its great location. You can explore any number of local State Parks including Peninsula State Park, Newport State Park, Mink River Estuary State Natural Area or Mud Lake State Natural Area for starters. Many people rent kayaks or canoes to explore Lake Michigan or the estuaries around the area. If you’re looking for a little less adventure Egg Harbor is full of wineries, mom and pop shops and, of course, that famous Wisconsin cheese.

Fox Hill RV Park: Baraboo

Fox Hill RV Park is ranked as the number one specialty camping spot in the area, and an area like Baraboo has plenty of competition. Take a look at the park and you can see some of the reasons why. Extra wide pull through spaces can accommodate the largest of rigs and are outfitted with 20/30/50 amp hookups, water, and sewer. Bathhouses are sparkling clean and showers are free. You can expect plenty of other amenities and facilities like a camp store, nature trails, disc golf course, laundromat, heated swimming pool, a dog run and much more.

Baraboo has tons of fun available for you too. Devils Lake State Park and Devils Lake are prime destinations for relaxing in the beauty of Wisconsin. You also have the giant Lake Wisconsin nearby if you’re looking for more on the water fun. If you’re feeling lucky you can hop on a free shuttle to Ho-Chunk Casino for table games, slots, live entertainment and fine dining. If you’re looking for some more family friendly activities ship up to nearby Wisconsin Dells for tons of water parks.
