The Scottish Highlands Must See: Fort William
Scotland is a beautiful country, boasting its lovely scenery. Fort William on the West Coast of Scotland is one of the places you should add to your itinerary. It is slightly bigger than the other towns and villages, and caters for a wide range of people from the savvy shoppers who love the high street brands, to outdoor geeks who love hill walking or maybe an extreme sport.
When looking for a Fort William Hotel, you will be spoiled for choice, there is a huge range to choose from, they are not all in the town there is a strip of hotels just on the road in. These hotels have an added bonus; apart from serenity they have breath-taking views over Loch Linnhe and the surrounding mountains.
You will not run out of things to keep yourself amused as there are a lot of things in surrounding areas, and in Fort William itself. The Jacobite Steam Train is a must; it runs from Fort William all the way up to Mallaig. Experience the highlands in all their glory as the train crosses the viaducts and travels through the mountainous valleys. There is also various seal colony's; this is great for kids and there are boats that will take you over to them, great opportunity for some pictures.
Is that a bit to serene for you? Do you want something a bit more extreme? Well I like to call this throwing yourself off a mountain! At the Nevis Range which has a gondola to take you from the foot to the middle of Aonach Mor situated beside Scotland's largest mountain Ben Nevis. You can go right to the peak if you want to do some skiing but at this point there is a wicked BMX track, if this is your thing this should not be missed. At the Nevis Range you can also try some high wire activities. Which is basically a selection of high rope exercise with a series of obstacles ... ladders, rope bridges and balance beams as well as a jump from 11m (Swoop) and a 100m zip.
So as you can see there is a lot of things to keep you amused while visiting this lovely town. It is definitely one stop not to be missed when visiting the Scottish Highlands.
