The American Heart Association recommends that you lower blood pressure without medication through changes in lifestyle.
In fact the AHA says that drugs are useful only when adjustments to diet and exercise have failed to work.
What a no brainer idea! While nobody can say for certain what causes high blood pressure, there is plenty of evidence to see the connection between the food we eat, the exercise we don't get and the daily stress we live with.
All three of these contribute over the years to harden our arteries, create plaque on the blood vessel walls, and generally set us up for stroke, heart attack, kidney failure or blindness.
