How to Deal With Text Anxiety

12
Test anxiety is a very real condition that many people deal with.
What happens is that someone has quite a bit of anxiety that occurs when taking a test.
One can sweat, become short of breath, and become terrified of the actual exam in front of them.
This can become a huge problem since it will effect the performance on the test itself which results in getting lower grades because of this extra anxiety.
There are some ways of dealing with the anxiety that you can do that can help you out.
The first is to be sure that you have really studied and prepared like you needed to for the actual exam.
Sometimes not knowing an answer to a question makes this anxiety much worse.
Knowing your material well will give you confidence which can help you do better on the test.
Be sure that you try to deal with other anxieties in life.
Many times anxiety from another area of your life effects you which results in experiencing the same feelings while taking a test.
You have to learn how to properly deal with any stress in other areas of your life and not just while test taking.
Do something that will help you relieve stress and be relaxed before taking the test.
This varies from person to person so find what makes you feel less stressed and focus on doing that to relax.
Try slow breathing exercises.
These can be done before the test and during the test.
Many times they serve as a distraction so that you won't feel as nervous or anxious about your situation.
Go over the exam when you get it so that you can face all your fears.
You then know what questions will be on the test and can then anticipate exactly what you will have to know.
Be sure that you just skip questions you don't know.
Many times this triggers extra anxiety.
You can come back later when you have worked through the rest of the exam and try to work through the question you couldn't answer.
If your anxiety is really bad, talk to your professor about the option of taking the test somewhere else with less distractions and maybe even with more or unlimited time to take the written test.
Sometimes not being under the pressure of a time limit will take off much of the anxiety.
