Relationship Between Hair Loss And Stress

6
Which came first, the hair loss or the stress? These two conditions are intertwined in a frustratingly ironic pattern! You are stressed and you start to lose hair; then you are even MORE stressed, and start to lose even MORE hair! Anxiety is overwhelmingly harmful for the body, and the loss of our hair is only one of the many ways that it corrodes our health!

For anyone experiencing hair loss, I would definitely recommend a health makeover. Your hair is a window into your overall healtha problem in this area may be an indication of a larger health issue. Exercise should be your first step! It will increase your blood circulation and result in more nourishment for your cells, including your hair follicles. Exercise is absolutely the best stress reliever available to mankind! It stimulates the production of hormones and releases endorphins, which make us feel balanced and happy! Best of all, with regular exercise, your body WILL look, feel, and function better and better! Even if your hair loss is caused by an incurable genetic condition, regular exercise will give you the mental and physical advantages you will need to adjust to the changes that occur in life.

Balanced nutrition is the second aspect of your health makeover. As much as we are conditioned to believe in the power of vitamin supplements, our bodies are naturally designed to absorb necessary nutrients from food sources. You are what you eat? Absolutely! Common sense should prevail here; work as hard as you can at eating naturally colorful foodsfruits and vegetables should be the foundation of everything that you consume. Replace cookies with fruit. Replace chips with carrots or small servings of nuts. Choose salmon as often as you can stand it. I would strongly recommend skim milk and plain yogurt. (I know plain yogurt isnt tasty to every palatebut try!) Low-fat dairy is an excellent source of protein and vitamin D; protein is an essential building block of hair growth, and vitamin D is critical for the proper functioning of your immune systemnecessary for reducing inflammation and fighting infection, both useful weapons in your arsenal against hair loss.

While many of us suffer with hair loss that is genetic and irreversible, remember that hair is only one of dozens of aspects which make us who we are, which make us feel good, and which make us attractive. Hair is a large part of our personal identity and we are connected to it psychologically, but it has almost nothing to do with our survival! Its entirely possible to overcome hair loss, to view it (properly) as something that is completely cosmetic, and to redirect our energy into our inner health.
