We are a small renewable energy company based in Potters Bar Hertfordshire our main line of business was installing solar thermal panels. But then we thought of a new way to increase our income by drilling boreholes and water wells also drilling the vertical loops for ground source heat pumps.
We had been hunting around for a drilling rig through the internet and came across a manufacturer in the USA who seemed to have the best deal for what we needed, we jumped on a plane to go and see the manufacturer and after careful consideration decided to order one. We had our rig shipped here to the UK by sea freight.
When the rig arrived we started to drill a few test boreholes. It was not long before we realised that we needed to update our drilling machine as we found out to our surprise in the control system hydraulics were pretty basic and almost dangerous to use. Without the ability to get the manufacturer to fix the problems due to the distance, we thought we would have to just use the rig as it was, but as luck would have it we were introduced to a drilling rig manufacturer, through a water well pump supplier, this drilling rig manufacture is based in Hertfordshire, we called them and they took one look at our machine and told us what they could do for us.
The main problems we had was the speed control of the drilling head, we rushed it to their factory and after a few days later they had fitted a speed control and downward pressure control also a free fall control. This new controls have made the drilling process more controllable and we can now drill boreholes and water wells more successfully.
We now help this manufacturer to promote their equipment, and have provided them with charities who drill for water, they are shipping all the drilling rigs they build go to the third world countries like Africa.
This helps to supply safe clean drinking water to thousands of people. Water is one of the main necessities for sustaining life and without it none of us would be here.
