Call of Duty 6
With the release of Modern Warfare 2 scheduled for November 10 of this year, many people, myself included are wondering if the release of this game will mark the end for the original Modern Warfare.
Since its release nearly two years ago, Modern Warfare has captured the hearts, minds, soul, and attention of millions of gamers.
The game has been a huge success on every gaming platform, whether it is PlayStation 3, Xbox, Wii, or simply your personal computer.
People of all types have grown to love this game since its release long ago.
And with the recent release of World at War, it seems that a large portion of the Call of Duty generation have stuck will Modern Warfare as opposed to the newer version.
I believe that this is the case for a number of reasons.
First of all, the transition from modern day back to the mid 1900's was a feat that proved hard to accomplish.
The modern day weaponry, perks, and levels in Modern Warfare are unrivaled when it comes to what is available to use and play with in World at War.
For this reason, I believe that a majority of people found this transition to be worthless, myself included.
I would much rather use modern weapons and perks and play on modern maps than to be sent back into the past and use weaker, less effective weapons.
Modern weapons are, hands down, much more enjoyable to play with.
Another reason that I believe that people stuck with Modern Warfare is because of the actual game play of World at War.
The game play in World at War is much slower, due to the fact that the levels are far bigger than that on Modern Warfare.
In addition to this, the levels are also much darker.
The combination of these two features makes World at War, once again, not as action packed and enjoyable as Modern Warfare.
There are a number of reasons behind this, the main one being each games creator.
Modern Warfare was created by Infinity Ward, while World at War was created by Treyarch.
Both editions have earned the prestigious title of "Game of the Year," but in comparison to each other, Modern Warfare is far superior to World at War.
For this reason, and several other, Activision is making the transition back to Inifinity Ward for the creation of Modern Warfare 2.
There have been rumors spreading about all of the weapons, perks, and levels that will be offered in Modern Warfare 2, which is scheduled to release November 10 of this year.
Infinity Ward has gone as far as to creating a website about the upcoming game, which sole purpose is to create an opportunity for Call of Duty fans to chime in and offer some suggestions for what should be offered in the new game.
After reading many of these suggestions, my anticipation for this game reached a new high.
While I was researching this new game, trying to find out all of the information that I could about it, I came across a preview of the game.
Although it doesn't disclose much information about the game, it still sent chills down my spine.
So that brings us to our big question, "Will the release of Modern Warfare 2 result in the death of the original Modern Warfare?" For me, the answer is yes.
Although Modern Warfare has had unprecedented success, I think Activision and Infinity Ward will build on that and make this version of the game even better.
Thanks to their web pages that they have created for this game, they now know exactly what it is that people would like to see in this new game.
They will build of some of the advantages of the original Modern Warfare, and most likely eliminate or improve upon the things that people disliked about the game.
Although still far too earl to predict the games success, if it is anything like the original Modern Warfare, one would have to believe that it will be an instant success.
I can say with one hundred percent certainty, that Modern Warfare 2 will win the prestigious "Game of the Year" award, making it three straight for Call of Duty and the Activision family.
If you look at the number of people who have remained loyal to Modern Warfare, in comparison to those that have made the transition to World at War, Modern Warfare 2 is guaranteed to sell like hot cakes.
Personally, I am going to try and be one of the very first in line to purchase Modern Warfare 2 upon its release.
To do this, I am sure that I will need to place a pre-order at a local videogame retailer weeks, possibly months in advance.
I plan on being one of the first to experience the games new features, this way, I can really see how I stack up against the rest of the world in online game play.
I never was into first player shooter games such as Call of Duty before, however, I purchased Modern Warfare on a whim, nearly a year after its release and instantly fell in love.
I cannot say the same about World at War, though.
As much as I tried, I could not seem to find the same feeling I had for Modern Warfare in this new edition.
For me, the problem with World at War was the outdated weaponry.
I found the transition from modern day technology to the mid-1900's to be overwhelming.
It was not an enjoyable experience, so I got back into Modern Warfare, which never seems to let you down.
Modern Warfare has everything that I am looking for when it comes to first person shooter videogames.
It has a wide variety of modern weapons and perks and action packed levels.
World at War never really satisfied these needs.
So with the release of Modern Warfare 2 right around the corner, it will be time to say goodbye to the original Modern Warfare and pay it its respect for raising the bar for the gaming community.
