Nothing thrills a mom as much as a handmade gift from her child. Make her day by helping the little ones fashion a personal and adorable craft destined to become a keepsake. Basic art materials from the local dollar store or discount shop can be transformed into one-of-a-kind mementoes for mom. - Make a loving alphabet poster for mom.abc's image by jaddingt from Fotolia.com
Choose bright posterboard or a 12-by-18-inch sheet of construction paper as a backdrop for a personalized alphabet poster. Ask the child to write the alphabet vertically down the left side of the paper with a marker. Beside each letter, help her write a word describing her mother, such as "Awesome" and "Beautiful". Be sure to put the child's name and the date on the back when you finish the ABCs of mom. - Tissue paper flowers last longer than real ones.tissue paper image by Christopher Hall from Fotolia.com
Make colorful flowers by layering sheets of bright tissue paper and folding them in pleats. Twist a pipe cleaner in the middle to secure. Fluff out the sheets and separate them into petals. Repeat until you have made three or four flowers. Attach green pipe cleaner stems and give Mom a bouquet that will not wilt. - Craft a heart-shaped book for Mom.big heart little heart image by cat from Fotolia.com
A special book will make mom feel special. Cut out hearts from white paper, about four inches across. On each heart, help the child write something he loves about his mom. Cut out two red hearts for a front and back cover. Stack the hearts. Punch two holes on the left side and tie with yarn. Then decorate the red heart cover with a crayon picture of mom.
