Enhance Your Door With Clavos

14
There are a lot of ways that you can decorate your door to make it your own.
Or you can purchase a door with a lot of embellishments.
The possibilities are many, though it is easier to remember or think of some than others.
Popular ways to make a door unique is by doing so through the overall design, the number and shape of panels, choosing an arched door or traditional rectangular door, the type of glass you wish to include, whether or not to add in a wrought iron grille, and many more.
However, there is one way to accent a door that people often forget or simply don't know about: clavos.
Clavos are ornamental nails that can be used on doors as well as other millwork.
Typically, they are used when there is an Old World style being used in the home, but they can be implemented no matter what the style of home you have if you so desire.
They look excellent in doors that are antique, have been weathered, or do indeed echo Old World styles.
Manufacturers will give you several clavos to choose from, not just in metal makeup but also in coloring and texture.
Some clavos may have a hammered look for a more aged appearance that blends in well with antique styles and wood that has been purposely distressed.
You can often choose from at least three of the most popular color types: bronze, black, and pewter.
All three are relatively dark, but their aim is not to blend in with the door but rather to pop and catch the eye.
You want people to notice clavos - ultimately they are for decoration and will serve no actual purpose within your door.
Clavos come in different sizes and shapes as well.
You can choose a larger circular option in pewter or you can pick out a small square in bronze.
Most often you will find that the bronze and the pewter are hammered or in some way given texture whereas black is matte and smooth.
There is no need to worry about rusting or other deterioration with clavos.
Quality companies pay close attention to clavos and give each one a thorough powder-coating in order to ensure that it remains safe against the elements.
Some companies will even offer a lifetime no-rust guarantee.
These simple adornments can really make a huge change in the overall look of your door.
Give them some serious consideration if you are looking for some way to transform your door into something fresh and different.
