    Bluetooth Technology

    • Bluetooth technology is what allows the Audi MMI interface to connect to your phone. This technology is found in many devices, including cellphones, where it's used to connect to computer interface systems and accessory devices such as hands-free headsets and speakerphones. The technology allows you to pair devices to Bluetooth interfaces, such as the Audi MMI, by creating a unique pairing identification number between the two devices. This also ensures a secure data connection between the two devices.

    Audi MMI

    • When paired with a Bluetooth device, the Audi MMI system allows you to uniquely pair up to five difference devices. Once paired, you're able to make phone calls using your cell phone as well as access information on the phone like the address book and contacts list. These features help make driving and calling safer as they allow you to use voice commands to control the system and helps keep both hands on the wheels and your eyes on the road.

    Compatible Phones

    • Any phone that's equipped with Bluetooth is compatible with Audi's MMI computer. Most modern cellphones produced in the last year are equipped with Bluetooth technology as it has become the standard connection protocol for things like hands-free headsets. Most, if not all, smartphones come equipped with Bluetooth technology that allows them to be compatible with Audi MMI. The only phones that are incompatible are the ones that don't have Bluetooth technology embedded in the device's chip set.

    MMI Version and Pairing

    • Since its inception, there have been two iterations of MMI produced: the 2G MMI was the first, and the 3G MMI is the second and most recent. Pairing procedures for the two are the same. When the system detects that there's a Bluetooth-enabled device present in the car, it asks you if you wish to pair the device. Using the MMI control knob, select "Yes" and follow the prompts that are displayed on the screen.
