Diet Supplements to Eat & Feel Full

5

Herbal teas to fill you up

    • Consuming any hot liquid produces a feeling of fullness, but if one is trying to lose weight, herbal teas are the way to go. There are quite a variety of diet teas on the market today, which are designed to suppress the appetite and are sold in health food and specialty stores. Dandelion tea or its dried root, which should be steeped in hot water for about 10 minutes before drinking, may help to temporarily stave off hunger and is also a very powerful diuretic. Dandelion leaves alleviate water retention brought on by excess sodium intake or PMS, while at the same time removing excess water weight. Other herbal teas providing similar effects include Bearberry and Yarrow teas.

    Whole food supplements

    • Whole food supplements are liquid or powder forms of food. They also come in bar form. Including these in a diet may be helpful for those trying to lose weight, as well as for people who at times aren't able to prepare a balanced, nutritious meal. These supplements can be found anywhere, from the drug store to the supermarket, and include brands like Ensure and Slim-Fast (liquid forms), Powerbar or Zone bars, or are contained in protein powder which can be mixed with water, juice or blended with ice. When purchasing these products, make sure to check the nutritional labels to see if they contain essential nutrients like Vitamins A and C as well as iron and calcium. The supplements should also contain a significant amount of protein to keep you feeling full until your next meal.

    Infused-juice supplements

    • There are many liquid supplements available in health food stores or in the health food sections of supermarkets, which contain concentrated amounts of fruit into a mere 8 to 16 oz. product. These juices tend to be infused with additional nutrients like calcium or protein and so can be used as meal replacements from time to time. They tend to have more fiber and a thicker consistency than regular fruit juice, which will also help one to feel fuller longer. Noteworthy products to try include Odwalla and Bolthouse Farms smoothies.
