Not that long ago, it was standard operating procedure for families to live together.
I don't mean you and your kids I mean the family.
You know Grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters and their spouses and all the kids living together under one roof.
The family.
My father's generation grew up that way going through World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II.
With the economy the way it is right now many of us have been forced to make changes in our way of living and to us it seems very painful.
We don't eat out as much as we have in the past; we have cut back on entertainment and maybe even sold the old gas-guzzler and purchased that new hybrid to save a few bucks on gas.
Some have even taken it another step further because of more difficult situations.
Maybe the loss of a job has forced your hand and you have filed bankruptcy, filed for unemployment, lost your home due to foreclosure, lost your car, etc.
, etc.
When you are in a difficult situation you don't want to hear that it is really not that bad out there.
However, it is really not that bad out there! Our economy is not the worst since the Great Depression as most politicians and reporters are claiming.
I am not an economist, but I lived through the recession of the 70's when President Richard Nixon was impeached following the end of the Vietnam War and Watergate.
I also remember the recession of the 80's during President Jimmy Carter's term and the Iran Crisis.
Both of these recessions were much worse than today with interest rates in the double digits and with double digit inflation.
Times were difficult but we survived as a nation and as individuals.
Hold your head up! Never give up and never surrender.
The only way to lose is to quit.
