"Left 4 Dead" for Windows: System Requirements
- "Left 4 Dead" is a survival horror game released by Valve. Windows users must meet the minimum system requirements to run the game. The recommended system requirements are those that must be met for the game to run optimally. Lowering the graphics settings can improve performance on systems not meeting the recommended requirements.
- The Windows version of "Left 4 Dead" is developed to run on the Windows XP, Vista (32 bit) and Vista (64 bit) operating systems. Users also must have "Steam," Valve's software distribution program, installed. DirectX 9.0c or later drivers are required.
- A 3.0 GHz processor is the minimum requirement. An Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or better processor is recommended. The recommended and minimum random access memory (RAM) requirement is 1 GB. The minimum graphic card required is a 128 MB card with Shader model 2.0 support, while a Shader model 3.0 support is recommended. At least 7.5 GB of hard drive space is required for installation.
- An internet connection is required for online multiplayer. Multiplayer matches also may be played over a local access network. A Steam account is required, as well. This is a free account setup through Steam that saves your player settings and any games purchased through Steam. Additional hard drive space is required to install updates, patches and "The Sacrifice," an expansion campaign.
