Homemade Fishing Rod Storage

    • 1). Place a 1 by 6 lumber on a sturdy work surface; the length will depend on how many rods you want to store, but 2 or 3 foot is a good place to start. With a tape measure, mark every 6 to 8 inches. These will indicate mounting points for the PVC holders.

    • 2). Cut 2-inch PVC pipe with a fine tooth saw into pieces 10 inches long. The number will depend on the number of rods and the length of the board. A 3-foot board can fit five or six rods and will need that many pieces of pipe.

    • 3). Mark with a pencil at 1 inch and 3 inches from one end on all the PVC lengths. These marks indicate where you will drill holes to screw the pipe to the board.

    • 4). Drill holes using a bit slightly larger than the wood or decking screws. Make sure the bit passes through both sides of the pipe.

    • 5). Place the pipes on the board. Line the pipe up with the marks you made earlier. Once you are satisfied the pipe is straight, put a screw into both holes and secure with a screw driver.

    • 6). Repeat the process with the remaining pipes.

    • 7). Select location and drill two or three holes in the board to attach the rack to a wall. Drive the screws to wall studs or use wall anchors.
