    Superhero Party

    • A boy who is wild about superheroes will appreciate a superhero-themed birthday party. Purchase posters or print out and blow up images of his favorite superheroes and display them on the walls. Type up popular comic book words, such as "pow," "kaboom" and "bang" and hang them on the walls. Have a cake fashioned after his character. Ask guests to come dressed as their favorite characters. Include fun activities for kids: one idea is to split the party into superheros and villains and have the superheros try to catch the villains.

    Dress-Up Party

    • A dress-up party is fun for a girl who enjoys dressing up. Chances are, if she enjoys dressing up, she already has a stockpile of dress-up clothes that can be used at the party. Purchase extras from a toy or costume store. Designate an area of your home to serve as the dress-up area. Place costumes, mirrors and any other decorative accents that may be used for dress-up--such as jewelry, makeup, nail polish and hair accessories--in that areas. Fill the area with plenty of mirrors. Serve finger sandwiches, fresh fruit and punch. The main activity at this party is obviously dressing up. Have the guest of honor and her friends deck themselves out with the supplies provided and pose for photo shoots as they sashay on a pretend catwalk.

    80s Party

    • Adults will appreciate reliving the 1980s at this themed birthday party. Set the stage for the party by decorating the inside of your home with neon-colored balloons and streamers, hang posters on the walls depicting '80s icons, such as Michael Jackson and Prince. Ask guests to dress in '80s attire. Play some of your favorite '80s movies--for instance, "Pretty in Pink" and "The Goonies." Of course, playing music from the era is imperative for reliving the decade. Play a game of "Guess that '80s Tune." Play a few seconds of a different songs and have guests try to guess the title and artist. Another fun game is '80s trivia. Prior to the party, create a set of questions to ask guests that pertain to people and events from the decade.
