The Bottom Line

Princeton Tec is a clear leader when it comes to lights for outdoorsmen. The Corona is a good example of this. Features include a rear-mounted battery pack that helps balance the unit, adjustable light angle, a wide array of light settings, and more. Like other Princeton Tec lights I've used, it's well-made and well-designed. Switches are easy to operate for on-off and selecting between the many light settings.

Bottom line? It's a good light, and I've gotten a lot of good use out of it.

Pros
  • Eight Ultrabright LEDs provide a flood of light, or use fewer bulbs if you want.
  • Light is balanced and comfortable, with rear battery pack on the adjustable head strap.
  • Water-resistant, and the bulbs are shock-resistant.
  • Switch operates easily; choose from 4 light settings with high/low brightness or flashing.
  • Top strap on headgear keeps light from slipping down.

Cons
  • Not very easy to use when you're wearing a hat or cap (though it can be done).

Description
  • LED headlamp with multiple light settings and modes.
  • You can use 8, 5, 3, or 1 LED, with high/low or flashing mode for each of the four.
  • Rear battery pack holds three AA batteries (alkaline or lithium).
  • Up to 30 hours of light with one set of batteries, at highest setting. Up to 70 hours on the lowest.
  • Provides a wide beam of light, which means you don't always have to be aiming the light.
  • Light angle is adjustable (light pivots up and down).
  • Lifetime Warranty. Made in USA.

Guide Review - Princeton Tec Corona Headlight

Princeton Tec is a clear leader when it comes to lights for outdoorsmen, and the Corona is a good example of this. The rear-mounted battery pack helps balance the unit, and the adjustable light angle, a wide array of settings, and other features make this a very useful light.

Like other Princeton Tec lights I've used, this one is well-made and well-designed. The pushbutton on/off switch is easy to operate, and the same switch is used to choose between 8-, 5-, 3-, or 1-LED lighting - and another button allows you to choose high, low, or flashing for any of the above modes.

I have used this light for a variety of tasks, including skinning and quartering whitetail deer after dark. It provided plenty of light for the job at hand, and was much more effective - and easier - than having a friend hold a flashlight while I worked. This left his hands and mine free to do the job.

This light, like all other Princeton Tec lights I've used, provides extremely long battery life. And when the batteries start to get weak, you can easily switch the light to use fewer LEDs, to make them last until they can be replaced.

The light beam is not focus-adjustable, so it can't be used as a spotlight. It's an area light, and works great for that purpose. Princeton Tec's Web site tells me it will shine out to 28 meters with all eight LEDs on high - and I won't ask (or need) it to do more than that.

This is a very good light, providing a wide flood of light as well as long battery life.
