How to Install a Stereo into a Dodge Ram 1500
- 1). Disconnect the grounding cable from the Ram truck's battery. Loose the cable with the wrench and lift it from the negative battery terminal. Rest the cable away from the battery. Move to the inside of the truck.
- 2). Place the trim panel removal tool into the crease between the main dash panel and the Ram's dashboard. Pry the panel from the dashboard enough to fit your fingers into the opening. Grab the panel and pull it from the dashboard. Work your hands around the perimeter of the dashboard panel until it is completely separated from the Dodge's dashboard. Set the panel aside.
- 3). Remove the two screw bolts from the stereo bracket with the 10mm socket and drive.
- 4). Slide the factory stereo from the Ram's stereo mounting dock. Disconnect the two stereo wiring connectors and antenna cable lead from the back of the stereo.
- 5). Insert the Chrysler aftermarket stereo faceplate adapter into the vacant Dodge stereo dock. Pull the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the mounting dock to the front of the dashboard.
- 6). Plug the stereo wiring connectors into the lead connectors of the wiring harness adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the appropriate outlets on the rear panel of the new stereo. Insert the antenna lead into the FM antenna input on the back of the aftermarket stereo.
- 7). Slide the stereo into the faceplate adapter until it snaps into place.
- 8). Align the main dash panel with the Ram's dashboard. Press firmly around the panel's perimeter to secure it back onto the dashboard. Return to the battery.
- 9). Place the grounding cable's clamp back onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the cable's bolt with the wrench. Close the Ram's hood.
