How to Open the Firewall for the Symantec Antivirus Management Port
- 1). Open the "Start" menu and type "Windows Firewall" in the "Start Search" box. Click the "Windows Firewall" icon when it appears in the search results. Click the "Allow a Program through the Firewall" link at the top-left end of the window. Click "Continue" to confirm you want to access the next screen.
- 2). Click the "Add Port" button at the bottom of the screen. Type "Symantec Management Port," or something else similar, in the "Name" text box.
- 3). Type "139" in the "Port Number" text box and click "OK." Repeat the process of adding ports and add the port numbers "38293," "2967" and "2968." Name each successive port something different, such as "Symantec Management Port 2."
- 4). Click "Apply" and choose "OK" to save the changes to the Windows Firewall.
- 1). Open the ZoneAlarm software. If you are using the entire security suite, instead of just the ZoneAlarm firewall, click the "Firewall" tab.
- 2). Click "Trusted Zone" and choose "Custom." Click the "Incoming TCP Port" radio button. Scroll down to the ports text box and type all of the Symantec management ports, separated out by commas. The text box should read "139, 2967, 2968, 38293."
- 3). Click "Apply" and "OK." Navigate to the "Internet Zone" tab and click "Custom." Repeat the process of adding the port numbers in the port text box.
- 1). Open the Comodo Internet Security software and click the "Firewall" button at the top of the screen. Navigate to the "Advanced" tab at the left end of the window.
- 2). Click the "Network Security Policy" link. Navigate to "Global Rules" and choose "Add." Choose "Allow." Click the "TCP" radio button and choose the "Incoming" option.
- 3). Type "139" in the "Destination Port" text box and choose "OK." Repeat the process of adding a new rule for the ports "2967," "2968" and "38293."
