• Antivirus 360, also known as MS Antivirus and Spyware Protect 2009, is a kind of scareware rogue anti-virus. Scareware is a class of software that uses unethical marketing practices to sell products. These practices include influencing people by scare or shock tactics or causing the perception of a threat. A rogue anti-virus attempts to mislead a computer user into simulated removal or even the installation of additional malware.

• Antivirus 360 influences a user by claiming to remove fake viruses on a computer running a Microsoft Windows operating system. Antivirus 360 then attempts to scam the user into purchasing the full version of Antivirus 360 to remove other or supposedly more serious threats from the computer.

• Once installed, Antivirus 360 can constantly create bogus pop-up warnings to persuade the user to register the software to fix the alleged infections. Antivirus 360 can block access to authentic virus-removal sites. Antivirus 360 may be removed by installing a legitimate anti-malware application, such as Norton AntiVirus or McAfee.
