Prevent and Repair Dead Grass

• 1). Water the urine areas of grass thoroughly, using a full watering can. Try to water the spots as soon as possible to prevent grass damage. If time has passed, use a hose to flood out the urine spots with large amounts of water. This will cause the urine salts to dilute and drain out of the root areas.
  
  
• 2). Remove all of the dead grass from each spot in your yard if you already have urine damage. Use a hand shovel or spade to loosen the soil in each spot.
  
  
• 3). Mix a handful of potting soil with an equal amount of lawn grass seed together.
  
  
• 4). Add the potting soil and lawn grass seed combination with the loosened soil you just created in the spot. Pack down the soil lightly.
  
  
• 5). Water the newly packed soil immediately. Repeat the watering daily to keep the soil moist until you see new seedlings emerge.
  
  

Repair Dead Grass Quickly

• 1). Buy a slab of sod from a nursery in your area. Cut the slab into small pieces.
  
  
• 2). Remove dead grass from each spot. Loosen the soil with a hand shovel or spade.
  
  
• 3). Put the pieces of sod you cut in each spot. Step on the sod to press it into the ground.
  
  
• 4). Water the new sod areas with water thoroughly and keep them moist each day. Soon the sod will take root and grow into the soil.
