PBD File Extension
- PowerBuilder is an object-oriented programming language developed by Sybase. It uses a a compiler to compile the code and then the PowerBuilder virtual machine interprets it, creating PBD files. These files work similarly to dynamic link library files used by other programming languages. PowerBuilder has functions to interact with databases as well as a scripting language called PowerScript, which a programmer uses to program events which respond to user actions.
- iSilo is a document reader available across many different PC and handheld operating systems. PBD files are compressed documents which a user creates, configures and loads onto a device. A user can password-protect his PBD files or change their permissions to allow or disallow modification. He can also force a viewer to register the document upon first viewing or even create an expiration date so the PBD file will no longer open once the date passes.
- PhotoDeluxe is old image editing program developed by Adobe. A user would upload an image into the software and could then perform modifications to the image, such as resizing and cropping, adjusting brightness and sharpness levels and blending images together. When a user wanted to save her progress and close the program, PhotoDeluxe would create a PBD project file. When the opened this file, all of her modifications would still show. Adobe no longer supports PhotoDeluxe, having replaced it with Photoshop Elements.
- The Open Text Portal, formerly known as the Vignette Portal, is a tool used as part of the Web Content Management software to develop web solutions. The PortalBean interface is used to extend the framework of the Vignette Portal. Several class functions reference PBD files, which store sets of rules and data, similarly to XML files. They contain information that describes a PortalBean type.
