    • 1). Connect the power cable into the wall outlet or power strip. This is your standard, two prong black power cable that is easily identifiable.

    • 2). Connect your TV to your cable or satellite box. A standard audio/video cable that may be used is of the composite variety, with one red, one yellow and one white prong on either end of the RCA cable (a total of six prongs). There are matching red, yellow and white composite ports on the front and/or back of your TV, so make the connections by color-matching the ports to the prongs.

    • 3). Connect your TV to your cable or satellite box using a component connection if you are looking for a higher quality connection and possess a TV that will support it. Component cables consist of one green, one blue and one red prong on either end of the cable, and should be color matched to the component ports on your TV in the same manner as a composite connection. You will also have to use a standard RCA audio cable along with your component video connection. This cable simply has one yellow and one white prong on either end, and plugs into the yellow and white colored audio ports on the back of the TV and receiver box.

    • 4). Connect your TV to the cable/satellite receiver using a HDMI cable if you have one and your television is a high-definition set that supports the HDMI standard. The HDMI cable has one relatively flat, rectangular shaped black plug on either end of its cable. Plug it into the “HDMI” listed port on the rear of the TV and the cable/satellite receiver. Also, add in the RCA audio cable by matching up the yellow and white ports and prongs.

    • 5). Ensure your cable or satellite box is plugged into the power source securely.

    • 6). Power on both the cable/satellite box and your television for testing. Check to see if your cable/satellite programming appears on your TV’s display.

    • 7). Cycle through your video inputs if your TV screen remains blank. The wrong input may be selected at default. There is a video input on your remote, and also there is likely one on the face of your TV. Press this button multiple times to cycle through the available inputs for your TV until the input associated with your cable/satellite receiver box is reached. This should remedy the issue.
