How to Use a Paintbrush With Gimp
- 1). Locate the toolbox. This could be in a different place on the screen depending upon the GIMP version you use. The box contains many different icons, similar to those used in Microsoft Paint.
- 2). Hover over the icons to see the name of each tool and locate the paintbrush. It looks like a tiny paintbrush, with the brush portion pointing diagonally to the left and the handle pointing diagonally to the right. It sits between the pencil and eraser. Click it.
- 3). Modify the paintbrush settings in the window directly under the "Tools" window. If this bar doesn't exist, click "Windows" and then "Dockable Windows." Choose "Tool Options" and the window appears.
- 4). Move your cursor to the main window. Click and hold the mouse. Drag it across the screen to use the paintbrush. Alternatively, create a straight line by holding "Shift" and clicking on the page. Click again at another point, while still holding "Shift," and a straight line appears between the two points. Click in another place an a straight line appears between the last place you clicked and the new place.
