How to Make Your Own Gold Bead Jewelry
- 1). Cut a strand of gold-plated beading wire 1 inch longer than the desired jewelry length. The wire will only be visible around the clasp sections, so you can use gold-colored beading wire, if you prefer.
- 2). Thread a gold crimp bead and one-half of the clasp over one end of the gold wire. Fold the wire 1/2 inch from the end. Slide the clasp loop between the folded wires, to the fold. Slide the crimp bead over the folded wire to the edge of the clasp loop.
- 3). Position the crimp bead in the center of the notched opening on the crimping pliers. Squeeze the pliers to press the bead onto the wire. Turn the crimped bead a 1/4 turn so that the elongated edge is facing up. Position the bead in the center of the smooth opening on the crimping pliers. Squeeze the pliers to press the bead.
- 4). Alternately thread a 6x4mm corrugated oval gold bead and a 5x3mm smooth oval gold bead over the open end of the gold wire. Fill the wire with the gold beads up to 1/2 inch from the end. Alternating the larger corrugated gold bead with the smaller smooth gold bead adds design interest to your jewelry. There are many different styles of gold beads to choose from; select the beads that best suit your tastes and your pocketbook.
- 5). Thread a gold crimp bead behind the last gold bead. Thread the remaining section of the gold clasp behind the crimp bead.
- 6). Fold the gold wire around the loop on the gold clasp and through the gold crimp bead. Repeat Step 3 to crimp the gold bead.
