How to Decorate a Table With Ribbons
- 1). Tie a large ribbon around the backs of the chairs to pull the look of the table together. You have a couple of options for this. Choose several different kinds of ribbon of various thicknesses. Measure them so that they fit completely around the back of the chair. Tie one of each kind of ribbon to the chair in a fan shape, and then make a large bow by tying all the loose ends of the ribbons together. Or get one thick ribbon and tie the single ribbon around the chairs for a more uniform look.
- 2). Sew decorative bows to each corner of the tablecloth. Choose a ribbon that matches the tablecloth's style.
- 3). Create a ribbon centerpiece. A few open-top glass containers of different sizes filled with water and floating candles can be decorated with ribbons. Tie the ribbons around the outside of each container before filling it with water and candles. Cluster a few in the center of the table.
- 4). Tie ribbons around the stems of the wine glasses as well as to the handles of the serving spoons. Place these at each place setting.
- 5). Use ribbon to make napkin rings. Get some card stock and cut it into squares measuring about 1 1/2-by-3-inches. Write a saying on the card that's appropriate for the occasion. For example, if you're having a Christmas dinner, use a gold glitter pen to write "Merry Christmas" or "Season's Greetings" on the card. Punch a hole in each of the short ends of the card. Lace a fat ribbon through each end. Push some silverware rolled into a linen napkin through the ribbon loop and tighten the ribbon until the napkin ring fits the rolled silverware snugly.
- 6). Make name cards of card stock and ribbons. Write the name of each guest onto the card stock, punch a hole in the top and tie a piece of ribbon through the hole without making a bow. Stick a decorative toothpick into a piece of fruit like a pear, apple or mini-pumpkin. Tie the ribbon around the toothpick and set the name card fruit at each person's plate.
- 7). Wrap tiny packages filled with chocolates or other party favors and bound with ribbon and place near each plate. You can also fill jars with colorful candies and top with a fluffy bow to make favors as well.
