How to Clean a Water Turtle Aquarium
- 1). Find a place to put your turtle where it will be safe and comfortable while you clean its aquarium. A child's wading pool or a very large plastic tub will serve this purpose well. Fill1/4 of the tub with warm water and give your turtle something to eat and a rock to sit on.
- 2). Connect a siphon hose to the water vacuum. Put one end in the aquarium and the other end in a place where you can allow the aquarium water to drain, such as a bucket.
- 3). Plug in the vacuum and turn it on. As the aquarium empties, remove all items from the aquarium and take them to a sink to clean them. Use a toothbrush to scrub the aquarium accessories with white vinegar and then rinse them well. Use only water to clean the filter and its components.
- 4). Clean inside the aquarium by scrubbing the walls with a toothbrush and baking soda. Wipe the inside of the aquarium with a paper towel and white vinegar.
- 5). Detach the siphon tube from the vacuum once all of the water has drained from the aquarium. Locate the faucet attachment that came with your siphoning system and attach it to your faucet. Fill the aquarium with warm, clean water.
- 6). Return all of the items you took out of the aquarium. Put some organic waste decomposer into the water according to the instructions on the bottle. Put your turtle back into its fresh, clean aquarium.
