How to Paint Ceramic Tile Trivets
- 1). Place a small dollop of each color of acrylic paint onto the painter's palette. Set up the painting space by spreading two to three layers of newspaper out onto the work surface. Fill the small bowl with water and place paper towels nearby for blotting paintbrushes.
- 2). Wipe the surface of the tiles lightly with a damp cloth to remove any traces of dust or dirt. Dry the tiles with a dry cloth.
- 3). Choose a paint color to start with and dip a paintbrush into the acrylic paint. Brush the paint directly onto the ceramic tile squares in whatever design or shape you desire. Change paint colors by rinsing the paintbrush in the water and blotting it repeatedly onto a dry paper towel to remove excess moisture from the bristles.
- 4). Continue painting the ceramic tile squares, using as many different paint colors as you desire, until you finish your design and the tiles look as you wish.
- 5). Allow the ceramic tiles to dry at room temperature or bake the tiles in the oven for a glossy finish. To oven-bake the tiles, place them onto a baking sheet and place the baking sheet into a cold oven. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit with the tiles in the oven and bake them for 30 to 40 minutes. Turn the oven off after the time elapses but do not remove the baking sheet until the oven is cool again.
