    • 1). Slow down your pace when ascending a hill. Turn your toes out to make a herringbone pattern with your skates. This action is similar to dropping a gear in your car, and helps you tackle the hill with more power.

    • 2). Bend your knees in an aggravated fashion. This will bring your point of balance closer to the ground, enabling you to put more power through your lower legs, exactly where you need it.

    • 3). Take shorter strides, putting power behind each push and stride. If you are keeping your herringbone pattern, these two techniques will combine to make your ascent easier. Small, powerful pushes helps you reach the top.

    • 4). Swing your arms. Inline skating arm swings are similar to the swings your arms make when you are walking. You should swing them sideways as though throwing something horizontally behind you. This will help your power output too.

    • 5). Put your hips into every stride, ensuring your feet come back to the centerline. This is a good technique to use wherever you happen to be rollerblading.
