How to Calculate Space for a Curved Countertop
- 1). Place a tape measure on the floor and measure upward to the maximum height desires for your curved countertop. Even though the counter is curved the surface is still flat, so all portions of the countertop would fall within this height.
- 2). Measure to find the length of the area you want a curved countertop. Even though the countertop isn't a perfect square or rectangular shape, this information will help you find a unit that fits. Measure in between a cabinet and a wall, in between two cabinets or in whatever other area you have designed for your counter.
- 3). Place one end of the tape measure on the wall and measure the depth out from the wall to the farthest point of your curved countertop. Because of the irregular shape of the countertop, not all portions of the countertop are going to come out this far into your room.
- 4). Multiply the height, length and depth that you measured to find the total space (also called the volume) that your curved countertop will take up. If you measured in feet, divide each number by 12 to find the number of inches. The space will be measured in cubic inches. Your curved countertop will fit inside this cubic inch measurement.
