How to Design a Firepit
- 1). Check with your local municipality for regulations on fire pit sizes and locations. Follow their guidelines.
- 2). Select an area of your yard that is flat, easy-to-access and isn't near dry timber or lumber.
- 3). Choose the material that you want to use for your fire pit. Brick, metal and sand are often used. You will need to dig a hole to build a fire pit so that it is sheltered from the wind. Sand can be used as a base in the bottom of the fire pit. Brick can be built up around the sides to form a closed-in fire pit or you can put large rocks around the outside as a shorter barrier.
- 4). Consider adding extras such as a grill rack or rotisserie rod. A spot for these items will need to be added to the fire pit when you are building it.
