The Later Stages of an Acne Outbreak

18
Acne grows in stages.
Acne may possibly burst and leave permanent scars if allowed to grow up to the second and third stages.
It is very important to know more about the later stages of acne in order to understand how acne may be stopped before going on to the second and third stages.
The first stage of acne is the appearance of whiteheads and blackheads.
Cyst, nodule, papule and pustule are later stages of an outbreak.
Let's find out more about these.
What a papule is - A solid, slightly elevated lesion is a papule.
The general size for papules is about less than 5mm in diameter.
What is a pustule - Bacteria, white blood cells and dead skin cells are in the puss inside pustules.
These pustules can break easily because they are very fragile.
When they form over a sebaceous hair follicle, a pustule will be dome shaped with a hair in the center of it.
Cysts are pustules in the next stage of growth.
What is a nodule - An inflamed lesion that extends to the deeper layers of skin is called a nodule.
Like a papule, a nodule looks similar and is also dome shaped.
As the inner tissues of the skin become damaged, nodules can cause scarring.
What is a cyst - Dead skin, white blood cells and bacteria all fill up cysts.
Being damaging to the skin tissue, cysts can extend inside the skin and be very painful.
Scars can be formed by any acne that damages skin tissue deep inside.
