How Do I Do a Full Factory Recovery on My eMachines Computer?
- 1). Locate your recovery disks for your eMachines. Older systems had CDs provided with the new system, but almost all newer systems store the contents of these discs in a separate partition of the computer's hard drive. The customer must burn these discs themselves when they take the computer home.
- 2). Back up all the information that you do not want to lose when you restore the system. Pay particular attention to your Internet browser bookmarks, login and password files, financial data, and correspondence. Most email programs will allow you to back up your mail folders so you don't lose important letters and notices.
- 3). Exit all your applications and shut down the computer. You must start the recovery from the initial part of the system booting process.
- 4). Press "Alt" and "F10" at the same time when you see the splash screen for eMachines. This should show a screen indicating that the eMachines recovery is starting.
- 5). Select "Restore" from CD/DVD option from the list displayed on the Recovery screen. Other types of restoration are available but only this choice will do a full factory recovery.
- 6). Insert the first of your systems recovery discs into the CD/DVD drive. The recovery disc you received from the manufacturer with the computer or made from the ones on your hard disk provide all the files required to roll back the hard disk to the state it was in when your computer was shipped from the company. The recovery system automates all the steps to erase your disk and copy the operating system, drivers and applications onto the hard disk.
- 7). Select a backup from the list appearing on the screen. If you have included several backups on the same CD/DVD, you need to select the original backup of factory settings.
- 8). Click "OK" and the installation will begin. Follow the prompts to change discs as the installation prompts you.
