How to Write Thank You Sentiments
- 1). Write the letter when you have enough time to sit and do it in an unhurried fashion. Use the person's name, or the name that you normally use when speaking to him. Tell him that you are writing because you are so thankful for what he has done, for example, "I am writing to thank you for the care you gave to my mother during her recent admission to your ward."
- 2). Add detail, so that it is obvious that you are sincere in your sentiments, for example, " You spent extra time helping me when I was worrying about my exam and this made such a difference." Be specific, and avoid being over sentimental. Sometimes, a few words from the heart mean more than a long outpouring of feeling.
- 3). Aim to make the recipient of the person feel appreciated, that you noticed her kindness or her efforts. Include a gift if this is appropriate. Use humor if appropriate, such as "I hope you have recovered from the effects of all the coffee and cake we consumed while you were listening to my woes."
End the letter with another expression or reiteration of your sincere gratitude.
