    • 1). Remove the magazine. Pull the slide to the rear. Visually inspect the chamber to ensure that no live ammunition is present.

    • 2). Push down on the recoil spring plug with the plug removal wrench supplied with your pistol. Turn the barrel bushing to the right. Slowly guide out the recoil spring plug and spring. Note that the spring and plug are under pressure. Remove slowly to avoid parts flying out.

    • 3). Cock the hammer back fully. Pull the slide back until the semi-circle depression -- located on the rear of the slide stop -- lines up with the semi-circle shaped disassembly notch located under the slide.

    • 4). Depress the end of the slide-stop, located on the right side of the pistol. Remove the slide-stop from the left. Push the slide forward and off the weapon's frame.

    • 5). Pull the recoil spring out through the front of the slide. Turn the barrel bushing counterclockwise until the bushing lug lines up with the small opening notch. Remove the bushing from the front.

    • 6). Rotate the long recoil spring guide away from the barrel. Pull the recoil spring guide out through the slide rear.

    • 7). Remove the rear sight elevation and windage screws, if so equipped, with a screwdriver. Fixed sights will not be adjustable.

    • 8). Soak the rear sight in gun lubricant for a few hours. This will help with removal. Dry the sight and slide thoroughly.

    • 9). Clamp the sight pusher in a secure bench vise. Place the slide into the sight pusher. Rotate the sight pusher arm knob clockwise to lock the sight pusher arm onto the left side of the rear sight. Ensure that the sight pusher arm is positioned so that it is centered above the dovetail on the rear sight.

Insert a 1/4-inch Allen key into the recess on the sight pusher arm knob. Rotate the pusher arm clockwise until the rear sight drifts off the slide. This may require using significant pressure on older or worn sights. Your slide is now ready for new sight installation.
