Texas Youth Hunting License
- A person is eligible for a Texas youth hunting permit until the age of 17, after which he is required to obtain an adult resident or non-resident hunting permit. Those who are under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult licensed hunter. Youth aged 9 through 16 must either be accompanied or must successfully complete a hunter education course.
- As of 2010, the cost of a youth hunting license in Texas is $7. The cost of the hunter education course is $15.
- A youth hunting license is required for anyone under the age of 17 who hunts any animal, bird or frog in Texas. This may not apply to fur-bearing animals, as they can also be covered by a trapper's license.
- A hunting license is not required for hunting coyotes or wild hogs that have been causing depredation to livestock, birds or other domestic animals. A license is not required for fur-bearing animals if the person has a tapping license.
- A youth license does not require extra stamp endorsements, such as a waterfowl stamp, to hunt certain types of game until age 16.
